The History of Social Work
Mary Van Hook served on the faculty as assistant professor until her
departure to the University of Central Florida in 1995, where she became
director of the social work program.
Van Hook received an A.B. degree from Calvin College, an M.S. degree
from Columbia University, and a Ph.D. from Rutgers University.
Prior to coming to Michigan, Van Hook served on the faculty at the
University of Iowa. Her teaching interests included mental health services
for rural populations and interpersonal practice.
